Show cause notices issued to six political parties

Description

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued show cause notices to six political parties including PPP and PML-N for giving less than five percent general seats to women in the upcoming by-elections.

According to ECP, the parties which include Muttahida Majlis e Amal, Tehreek e Insaaf Nazariyati, Rah-e-Haq Party, Tehreek e Labbaik, PPP and PML-N have to clarify their stance in 15 days.

It is further added that the parties have violated the Section 206 of Election Act 2017 which states that political parties are bound to nominate at least five percent women as candidates.
